What must courses have to be accredited?

  1. At least 20% of the workload needs to include direct instructor involvement. Usually this is a mix of live class meetings, participation in a forum, providing feedback, having office hours, etc.
  2. 2 peer-reviewed publications from within the past 5 years for each course.
  3. Graded regular assignments. (Coding exercises, problem sets, short essays, etc.)
  4. A graded final assignment. (This can be an exam, project, interview, etc.)
  5. A number of hours of total student work that matches 25x the number of credits. (So, a 4 ECTS course is 100 hours of student work.)
